To that end, we’ve rounded up a list of movies like Dirty Dancing you might want to check out when you need your next cha-cha fix. Oh, and we’d be remiss not to mention the evergreen empowerment assertion that “nobody puts Baby in the corner,” which her dad (played by Jerry Orbach) emotionally said in tribute to his daughter in one of the flick’s final scenes.īut now that you’ve memorized every line and raged at Penny’s predicament (still seething at Robbie, TBH), it’s time to find something new. Pink zebra animal12/30/2023 ![]() ![]() Animals may have both biological pigments and structural colours, for example, some butterflies with white wings. Biological colouration Īnimals can appear coloured due to two mechanisms, pigments and structural colours. Terms associated with this phenomenon are "hypochromia" and "albiflora". However, these plants are not totally devoid of chlorophyll. Some plant variations may have white flowers or other parts. Albinism in plants interferes with photosynthesis, which can reduce survivability. In plants, albinism is characterised by partial or complete loss of chlorophyll pigments and incomplete differentiation of chloroplast membranes. Type I oculocutaneous albinism (OCA1a) is the form most commonly recognised as 'albino' as this results in a complete absence of melanin in the skin, hair/fur/feathers, and pink pupils, however this has led many to assume that all albinos are pure white with pink pupils, which is not the case. Oculocutaneous albinism (OCA) is a clearly defined set of seven types of genetic mutations which reduce or completely prevent the synthesis of eumelanin or pheomelanin, resulting in reduced pigmentation. However, this is contrary to definitions where the condition is inherited. that albinism can occur for a number of reasons aside from inheritance, including genetic mutations, diet, living conditions, age, disease, or injury. Albinism is a well-recognized phenomenon in molluscs, both in the shell and in the soft parts. Familiar albino animals include in-bred strains of laboratory animals (rats, mice and rabbits), but populations of naturally occurring albino animals exist in the wild, e.g. It is a common misconception that all albino animals have characteristic pink or red eyes (resulting from the lack of pigment in the iris allowing the blood vessels of the retina to be visible), however this is not the case for some forms of albinism. Albinism can reduce the survivability of an animal for example, it has been suggested that albino alligators have an average survival span of only 24 hours due to the lack of protection from UV radiation and their lack of camouflage to avoid predators. ![]() Varied use and interpretation of the terms mean that written reports of albinistic animals can be difficult to verify. ![]() Individuals with the condition are referred to as albinos. Albinism is the congenital absence of melanin in an animal or plant resulting in white hair, feathers, scales and skin and reddish pink or blue eyes. ![]()

Garden story physical12/30/2023 ![]() It's the delightful contrast between these 2 characters, and their great on-screen chemistry, that turns an otherwise brooding sarcastic comedy into a really entertaining treat. Then he meets his antithesis, a 20-something girl (Natalie Portman) whose range of emotion is somewhere between very amused and insanely happy. Whether he's being nearly shot to death by an overenthusiastic cop, or molested by a hot blonde at a party, his range of emotion barely budges between bored and slightly perplexed. He seems devoid of all sentimentality as he wanders around meeting all sorts of crazy (and I mean crazy) characters from his past. ![]() A late-20s, emotionless, estranged son (Zach Braff) returns to his hometown to bury his mother. The story is something like famed French existentialist Albert Camus would write if he did comedy. There's a lot of visual storytelling, as in quirky symmetrical shots, stationary cameras on meticulously arranged sets, or a surreal vibe punctated by the camera slowly rising into the sky. I'm referring to flicks like Coffee & Cigarettes, Rushmore, Royal Tenenbaums, Life Aquatic, which is essentially saying it's like a Wes Anderson film, or maybe Terry Zwigoff (Ghost World, Art School Confidential). In that respect I'd put it in the genre of "movies like Bill Murray would act in" except there's no Bill Murray. meaning there aren't any big sight gags, slapstick or knockout punchlines. "Garden State" falls squarely in subtle, almost deadpan territory. In comedy, the worst thing you can do is try too hard to be funny. If nothing else, I'm making a movie that I'll enjoy." And that's why this movie works. ![]() I never know if anyone else is going to find them funny. ![]() But as writer/director/star Zach Braff says in the bonus interview, "Is it funny? Good. "Garden State" has a very specific brand of humor that not everyone is going to get immediately. ![]()
